Ruiz provides equalizer for Galaxy
The Chicago's Fire Nate Jaqua had the biggest chance to score a goal for the Fire when he took a chance on a 25-yard shot from the center of the field that beat Galaxy 'keeper Kevin Hartman, but couldn't beat the post, the ball caroming away from danger.

The Galaxy's Jovan Kirovski went down after colliding with Fire defender C.J. Brown and was taken to the hospital and had sustained a concusion.

Forward Carlos Ruiz registered the home side's best opportunity in the opening half, hitting the woodwork with a bending shot from 24 yards out in the 33rd minute.

The Fire then took advantage of a opportunity when Fire striker Damani Ralph took a shot from the top of the box and took advantage of the space he was given by Galaxy defender Ryan Suarez and fired home a low shot inside the far post for his 10th goal of the season.

The Galaxy once again turned up the pressure after conceding the lead, but all of their shots seemed to be aimed straight at Ring. In the 89th minute Arturo Torres sent in a cross and Ruiz managed to get a head to it to salvage a point for his team and his new coach.

The Galaxy have a fortnight's rest prior to their next match on Sept. 4 at the Columbus Crew (7:30 p.m.; FSW/FSE), the Fire host the A-League Charleston Battery in a U.S. Open Cup Semifinal on Wednesday before returning to MLS action on Aug. 28 at the Dallas Burn (8:30 p.m. ET; FSW/FSE).
