Revs suffer first defeat, fall 2-0 to DC United
Washington, D.C. – The New England Revolution suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of defending champs DC United. The Revs came out flat in the first half, went down by two goals early and were unable to recover.

Having already lost twice to the Revs, DC came out of the gates fast and kept the Revs in their own half for most of the opening half of play. Their pressure paid off in just the 10th minute, when Santino Quarenta headed home a Christian Gomez free kick that goalkeeper Matt Reis was unable to get to. Jay Heaps got his head to it, but was unable to prevent it from crossing the goal line.

Just two minutes later Jaime Moreno doubled DC’s lead. Moreno managed to get around three Revs defenders before slotting it home for the final goal of the night. Moreno had two more chances in the second half, and should’ve had a hat trick, but Matt Reis came up big, denying him on two break-aways.

New England came out of half time and immediately took control of the match.

Substitute Andy Dorman caught DC goalie Nick Rimando off his line in the 58th minute and sent in an angled shot, but Rimando just got back in time to clear it off the line.

In the 66th minute, Khano Smith received the ball from Andy Dorman inside the six-yard box, but saw his shot denied by a charging Rimando.

Connally Edozien came into the game soon after and quickly looked dangerous, seeing his header beat Rimando, but crash off the bar.

Steve Ralston provided the next offense on two great shots before the 80th minute mark. Rimando managed to make spectacular saves on both.

The loss ends the Revs unbeaten streak at 11 games and leaves them 7-1-4 on the season.
