Revs earn point with more late game heroics
Columbus, OH. - Some more late game heroics by Taylor Twellman saved the first place Revs from suffering an embarrassing defeat against the last place Columbus Crew on Wednesday. The Revs put three times more shots on target than Columbus, yet looked to be going home with a lose until Twellman extended his lead atop the scoring charts with his 16th goal of the season deep into stoppage time.

Pat Noonan had a great chance for the Revs in the 12th minute, but a diving Jonny Walker saved his long-range blast.

The Crew had a chance seconds later when Knox Cameron got on the end of a misplayed back-pass. Cameron was one-on-one with ‘keeper Matt Reis, but somehow shot wide.

Jay Heaps headed a Steve Ralston free kick on target in the 53rd minute, but Walker pushed it wide for a corner.

Knox Cameron gave the Crew the lead in the 66th minute, when Chad Marshall headed a Simon Elliot cross down in the box. The header deflected off Heaps and then fell to Knox Cameron who hammered it home to give the Crew the lead.

Taylor Twellman should’ve tied the match in the 86th minute when a Pat Noonan cross put him in alone on goal. From close range and with a lot of open net to look at, Twellman’s shot banged off the crossbar.

Twellman finally tied the match 3 minutes into stoppage time when he headed home a perfect cross from Pat Noonan.

The Revs had a few more chances before the end of the match, but were unable to put Walker under any pressure and were forced to settle for a draw.
