Magee's Late Minute Heroics lead Metros to 2-1 Win Over LA
After a two game losing streak, the first a 2-0 loss at home to Dallas, and then a 3-1 loss on the road to San Jose the MetroStars were able to pull out an unexpected win to the best in the West. The MetroStars came out fielding what many would say as their "B" team. Many players missing, and only 2-3 regular starters.

For the second strait week Wolyniec would the team's captain due to lack of experience on the field. After a slow first half, with no goalkeeper needing to make any big saves, and a full domination by the MetroStars, they would get what they needed in the 42nd minute. After a great corner kick from Mike Magee, the ball curved down into the box, and found the head of Kenny Arena, it hit ground, and bounced it's way into the net. After a short celebration, soon enough the Metros were winning 1-0 at halftime.

Early into the second half a horrible call was made, and a hand ball in the box by Jeff Parke would give LA the tieing goal. The penalty was called from a Cobi Jones cross from outside the box with Jeff Parke challenging, the ball hit his side, and was called to be his arm.

After most domination in the half LA finally got a great chance. A perfect cross into the box would leave Alejandro Moreno open in the box, unfortunately he wasn't able to put it on target.

The MetroStars would end off the day with some magic from Mike Magee again. A slow midfield build up led to a great Gilberto Flores' cross from the middle of the field into the box. Mike Magee went up strong and got a head to the ball. The ball bounced hard to the far post, leaving the LA goalkeeper with no chance of making the save.

The MetroStars came out with a win despite playing with a depleted roster and would break the two game losing streak.

Scoring
MET -- Kenny Arena 1 (Mike Magee 1) 42
LA -- Andreas Herzog 4 (penalty kick) 47
