Metros fall short with Galvan Rey's First
The first 20 minutes of the game would be all Rapids. A quick steal would lead to a break away for Chris Henderson. Chris Leitch was able to just catch up, but Henderson let of a shot before Leitch could make any sort of move. The shot went right at Jonny Walker who let up a rebound, but then made the second save.

In the 12th minute the MetroStars would get burned for leaving too many players unmarked in the box. The ball would fall to Jordan Cila who took a shot from the top of the box and put it just out of the reach of Walker.

During the 15th minute a great play from the Metros sent Gaven running from the right side into the box. The ball found his feet from a great one time pass, but he was unable to direct the shot away from Joe Cannon.

Only a minute later Amado Guevara had free time and space in the center of the field, he took a long shot effort only to find Cannon coming up with an easy save.

In the 20th minute Guevara would score from a tight angle only to find that flag would go up for him being offside.

Three minutes later the Metros would tie the game up with a great cross from Vaca on the left side that found Eddie Gaven alone in the box, Cannon went up to make the save but Gaven knocked it right through his arms. It would be Gaven's first goal scored at home after being called up for the USA national team.

The 53rd minute led to Sergio Galvan Rey's first goal, after a great taken corner, Galvan Rey was open at the far post, he was able to beat his mark and then tap the ball in. As soon as he scored he ran over to the bench to thank Gilberto.

Around the 70th minute there would be another Metro corner, but all that came was Jeff Parke launching an amazing header that Cannon only got a fingertip to. The game was still 2-1.

Under 10 minutes later the second year Rapid Nat Borchers would score off a mis-directed header, it would fall to his feet and he was able to launch a shot into the low corner. The game was tied at two.

One last play would seal the MetroStarrs' loss as Cila would do it again, after a corner he would make a turn around only a few feet from goal, he cut back and knocked the ball past Jonny Walker. The night would end with a Rapids win 3-2.
