Revs defeat Dallas 3-0 behind inspired performance by Matt Reis
DALLAS, TX. – The New England Revolution (5-8-7) made a third minute lead against Dallas (7-8-5) stand thanks to a spectacular performance by Matt Reis. Pat Noonan gave the Revs the early lead with Taylor Twellman and Andy Dorman adding late insurance goals. The Revs took the lead in just the third minute. After earning a free kick about 30 yards out from goal on the right flank, Jose Cancela quickly sent a pass to Steve Ralston, catching the Burn off guard. Ralston got to the end line before sending the ball across the 6-yard box, past goalie Jeff Cassar. Noonan slid in to easily redirect the ball into the empty net.

Matt Reis was called on twice to make huge saves in the first half. In the 12th minute Eddie Johnson slid a pass through the legs of Steve Ralston, who was once again called on to play right back. The pass found it’s way to an open Jason Kreis, whose close range shot from the left side of the box was saved by Reis. The Revs goalie came up big 6 minutes later stopping Eric Quill, who had beaten the Revolution defense.

Near half time, Taylor Twellman blew a golden opportunity to give the Revs some insurance going into the break and to end his scoring drought. Twellman just missed a bicycle kick off a Jose Cancela cross. His attempt caught Dallas goalie Jeff Cassar off guard for a second and as the ball fell to Brian Kamler, Kamler immediately sent it to Twellman leaving him with an open net. Twellman’s one-time effort went wide of the net.

The league’s all-time leading scorer, Jason Kreis almost tied the game in the 78th minute, but his free kick sent to the near post was saved by Reis.

Reis made his most spectacular save of the night in the 81st minute as he dove to his left to deny a close range header from Kreis.

The Revs added to their lead in the 86th minute, when Felix Brillant fed a through ball to Andy Dorman. Dorman ran to the end line before sending a cross to Twellman easily finished it for his fourth goal of the season.

Dorman finished off the game late into stoppage time with his first career MLS goal. Dorman took a touch before hammering home a Pat Noonan cross.
