LA advances to Western Conference Final

In the Eight minute of the first half, Marcelo Saragosa unleashed a shot from just outside the penalty area that beat Rapids 'keeper Joe Cannon, only for the ball to crash back off the face of the crossbar and the Rapids defense quickly clear it away.

The Rapids also had a chance in the 24 minute when Kyle Beckerman recieved a pass at the top of the Galaxy penalty area from Jordan Cila. Beckerman kicked it but right to Galaxy keeper Kevin Hartman. The Galaxy broke the tie in the 30th minute when Kirovski sent a corner kick to the middle of the penalty area, Chris Albright ran onto the ball and sent a flick header to the back post where Ruiz was lurking, Ruiz tapped the ball into the back of the net to give L.A. the lead and level the series.

Two yellow cards were shown in the 41st minute when Ruiz took down Beckerman on a late challenge Beckerman got up off of the ground and threw a shoulder into Ruiz right in fornt of the Referee who promptly showed both players yellow cards. In the 48 minute Tyrone Marshall lunged to stab the ball home and send the home side into the halftime break leading in the series.

Things got frantic as five minutes of stoppage time were added, the Rapids pushing everyone forward to try and get even on aggregate before full time. Nat Borchers and Matt Crawford just missed with chances, Mark Chung forced Hartman into his best stop of the night, extending to the furthest degree of his reach to push a dipping shot just over the crossbar, Chung left holding his head in his hands as the Galaxy won.
