New England Revolution at Los Angeles Galaxy Preview
New England Revolution at Los Angeles Galaxy Preview

Date/Time: 7/4/05, 10:00PM ET
TV: FSNNE, Fox Soccer Channel, MLSNet
Radio: WEEI 850 (tape delay),

Predicted Starting XI:
New England:

Los Angeles:

Records: Los Angeles 7-5-3 (3rd West), New England 9-1-4 (1st East)

Comments: Los Angeles will be without Landon Donovan (US), and Michael Umaña (Costa Rica), while the Revs are without Pat Noonan (US), Clint Dempsey (US), Steve Ralston (US) and Avery John (Trinidad & Tobago) due to Gold Cup call-ups. The Galaxy has struggled as of late on the road, but have the best record at home at 6-0-2. Los Angeles’ other struggles have been when Landon Donovan is unavailable and the Revolution will look to take advantage of that.

Los Angeles Galaxy - OUT: DF Chris Albright (L knee MCL sprain); FW Joseph Ngwenya (sports hernia surgery); DF Ben Benditson (sports hernia); MF Guillermo Gonzalez (L quadriceps strain); DF Pablo Chinchilla (L hamstring strain); QUESTIONABLE: MF Peter Vagenas (R hip flexor strain); PROBABLE: MF Ned Grabavoy (R hamstring strain)
New England Revolution - OUT: GK Kyle Singer (R shoulder sprain); PROBABLE: FW Taylor Twellman (L hamstring strain); DF Marshall Leonard (osteitis pubis)

International call-ups:
New England Revolution: FW Pat Noonan, MF Clint Dempsey, MF Steve Ralston (USA; CONCACAF Gold Cup); DF Avery John (Trinidad & Tobago; CONCACAF Gold Cup)

Los Angeles Galaxy: FW Landon Donovan (USA; CONCACAF Gold Cup); DF Michael Umaña (Costa Rica; CONCACAF Gold Cup)

Warnings (in danger of suspension if given another yellow card): NE: DF Jay Heaps (20 CP); MF Shalrie Joseph (18 CP)

Prediction: NE 1 – LA 0
Los Angeles’ offense has been struggling recently even with Landon Donovan in the line-up and without him that’s unlikely to change. The Revs league best defense should be able to shut down the Galaxy and with Taylor Twellman back in the line-up they should be able to sneak one past the Galaxy defense for a close win.
